Desiree Davila, Part Two

In this Runner’s World Brief Chat, Desiree Davila discusses her training leading up to the London Olympic Marathon.  A few highlights:

1.) Her mileage will be 120.

2.) On easy days, Davila runs longer in the morning (12-14 miles) and shorter (4 miles) in the afternoon.

3.) She’ll do the normal Hanson’s 10-day Cycle — long tempo (M pace), long intervals (M-10 pace), and long run.

4.) Her long run will be 22 miles, compared to 20 miles for previous marathon cycles.

5.) A couple times during the buildup, she’ll run faster intervals — like 10 x 800 or 5 x mile at M-20 pace

6.) She’ll run the 26.2km marathon simulator about one month before the race.
